Five Days, Four Nights – Four late afternoon balloon flights scheduled.

Day 1 – Our trip meets at 3:00 p.m. at 5 star Hotel Schloss Fuschl, with afternoon check-in for four nights at this beautifully restored, 14th century former hunting castle of the Archbishops of Salzburg. Welcome reception and depart for our late afternoon balloon adventure through very pretty meadowlands. Dinner party at our historic hotel.

Day 2 – After breakfast explore the romantic “old city” of Salzurg, birthplace of Mozart and filled with Baroque and Gothic architectural treasures under UNESCO protection. A highlight will be the colorful and lively Getreidegasse, Austria’s most beautiful shopping area. A quaint old lane of high, narrow houses with medieval wrought iron guild signs, it is full of fashionable shops and romantic passageways. Our wonderful city guide, Heidi, with her interesting stories, makes this morning’s walking tour a real pleasure. Our elaborate lunch will be on the terrace of 5 star Sacher Hotel, followed by our late afternoon balloon adventure through the Lakes District countryside. Dinner at our lovely hotel.

Day 3 – Morning drive to colorful St. Gilgen, gaily painted in the many soft pastel colors of the Austrian style. Board a lake steamer and sail to the extremely picturesque old market town of St. Wolfgang, with its even more richly decorated 15th century houses and its world famous Baroque style church filled with unusually magnificent furnishings. For luncheon we’ll be the guests of one of Salzburg’s most celebrated personalities and our very good friend, Princess Manni Wittgenstein, in her lovely Alpine home. She is a brilliant hostess, sharing with us wonderful tales of her fascinating life. She also frequently flies with our guests in our balloons, and thoroughly enjoys helping us make their Austrian visit a memorable one. Late afternoon balloon adventure through the beautiful Austrian landscape, returning to Schloss Fuschl for dinner.

Get Your Outdoor Gear Here - Click MeDay 4 – Today we’ll explore the ancient village of Hallstaat, easily the most striking lakeside village in the region. This tiny, picturesque hamlet clings to a ledge at the foot of a steep cliff, surrounded by the towering Dachstein mountains. Best enjoyed from the water, we will use a small fleet of electric boats to slowly cruise back and forth along the shoreline of ancient boathouses and quaint wooden homes. A major Celtic archaeological landmark and UNESCO protected site, the treasures unearthed here are so extensive that one era in Celtic studies (800 – 400 BC) is called “the Hallstatt period.” A pre-luncheon rafting party with champagne will be held on the lake before dining in a charming restaurant. Late afternoon balloon adventure through the summer meadowlands of the Alpine foothills, with farewell dinner party at Schloss Fuschl.

Day 5 – Our trip ends after breakfast at our hotel.

Surf clothing goes green

Get Your Surf Gear HereSurf and skate brands are increasingly embracing eco-friendly materials, the trend is just scratching the surface of the $3billion (RM11.4billion) per year US action sports clothing and shoe businesses. Since environmentalism resurfaced, clothing makers are showcasing apparel featuring fabrics like organic cotton, hemp, bamboo and also shoes made with less toxic materials in San Diego.

Companies that outfit surfers are using environment friendly materials as they are very concerned about polluted beaches and coastal damage due to surfer fashion. Changes were visible even in surfboard manufacturing, a notoriously toxic business dependent on foam, fiberglass and resins, now offering eco-friendly boards.

Quicksilver, the largest US maker of surf wear, recently launched an organic line of T-shirts. Global companies like Nike and Levi Strauss & Co are increasing use of organic cotton, while Wal-Mart Stores, world’s biggest retailer, is selling baby clothes made from organic cotton.

All That Glitters Is Holiday Magic Aboard Disney Cruise Line

CELEBRATION, FL – Holiday magic will deck the halls and add sparkle to the decks for guests who sail with Disney Cruise Line beginning this Thanksgiving and continuing through to the New Year. Both Disney Magic and Disney Wonder will spread an abundance of holiday cheer, from traditional Thanksgiving and Christmas feasts to “snowflake” sightings and seasonal caroling.

A special 10-Night Holiday Caribbean Cruise is planned for Disney Magic from Dec. 16 through Dec. 26. The Eastern/Southern Caribbean cruise will call at ports not typically on the Disney Magic cruise itinerary, including St. Lucia and Antigua.

The Holidays are magical aboard Disney Cruise Line. Guests on both the Disney Magic and Disney Wonder will find a nearly three-deck-tall tree festooned with decorations in the atrium lobby, where snow flurries fall and a tree-lighting ceremony occurs.

The spirit of the season will surround cruise guests from the moment they arrive at Port Canaveral, Fla. Disney characters decked out in their finest holiday attire will welcome guests to the lavishly decorated private cruise terminal. During holiday sailings, guests will discover:

Thanksgiving festivities complete with Thanksgiving Day meal with all the trimmings, craft activities with a focus on pilgrim hats and turkeys, and visits by Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse dressed in Thanksgiving costumes.

Special family time for designing and decorating gingerbread houses.

Traditional holiday feasts in Disney’s three themed dining rooms (Christmas cruise only).

Multiple faith and interdenominational holiday services (Christmas and Hanukkah cruise only).

When the ship returns the day after Thanksgiving, the island will be transformed into a Magical Wonderland, where the sandy Bahamian isle becomes a “snowy” holiday hideaway. “Snow” flurries will fall like magic, Christmas trees will glow and carolers will croon. Mr. and Mrs. Snowman, wearing shell noses and tropical attire, will greet guests with a sleigh full of presents. The tram that transports guests across the 1,000-acre island will be reindeer themed, complete with antlers and tail. A four-night Disney Wonder cruise stops at Castaway Cay on Thanksgiving Day.

At the beach, families can learn the art of sand sculpting, and kids can dive into holiday-themed activities that include making candy cane reindeer, paper plate angels and snowflake-mobiles.

Dead Sea Muds and SaltsWillow Stream The Spas At Fairmont Lead The Way

TORONTO, – As the competition for the ultimate hotel bed continues to heat up, Fairmont’s spa brand, Willow Stream, leads the way with the definitive spa treatment bed.

Designed with the needs of all spa goers in mind, whether male or female, experienced or spa newcomer, the Willow Stream spa experience bed is longer, wider and extra plush so that all spa guests feel comfortable. To get a better understanding of their spa guests, Willow Stream Spas turned to In Sync, the Toronto-based research firm, for deeper insights on what spa enthusiasts and luxury resort-goers want from their spa experience.

BeachBooker Beach Villas“Our research showed us that our guests were craving more care and touch in safe, comfortable and nurturing environments. So as we designed our spas and purchased our equipment, linen or anything that touches our spa guest, we ensured it added to their sense of comfort and care,” comments Anne McCall Wilson, general manager of Willow Stream Spas and Fairmont Spas.

“These fundamentals guide our standards and inspire all our design, furniture and equipment details. Our treatment bed is the ultimate expression of our commitment to creating a nurturing environment. Our guests feel taken care of because the beds and linens in our treatments make them feel comfortable and safe.

True Paradise in the Andaman islands

October 30, 2006 on 7:52 am | In Beachbooker, India | No Comments

BeachBooker Beach VillasEyeing eco-tourists as well as Bollywood filmmakers, the administration in India’s Andaman archipelago has decided to strengthen its infrastructure by developing 50 new sites for tourists. The destination attracted 50,000 tourists in the first seven months of this year.

The development confirms Andaman’s aggressive plans. Recently, it was shared that India is to open 15 islands in the remote Andaman archipelago, developing a total of 50 new sites in the northern cluster of islands, 1,200 kilometers off mainland India.

“These sites have been selected so that environmentally-sensitive hotels and beach resorts can be set up under our tourism plan,” Andaman’s Tourism chief Dharam Pal had said. As per the information available, only 36 of the more than 500 islands in the archipelago, closer to Indonesia than India, are inhabited.

The decision will not mean opening new islands.

Click Here for Your BEACH GEARTourism Secretary Dharam Pal told the BBC: “These sites have been selected so that environmentally-sensitive hotels and beach resorts can be set up under our tourism plan. In the first phase, tenders will be invited for a few of these sites. Then depending on the response, the other sites will be opened to domestic and perhaps even overseas bidders.” He said the virgin sites would be leased through auctions to private investors, once the federal government approved them.

Get Your Sports Gear HereEnvironmentalists have raised concerns about the impact of an expansion in traffic to the islands, added BBC News. “We want tourism to grow in the islands but the administration has to take care of the ecology and the indigenous populations,” reportedlynelso said Samir Acharya of the Society for Andaman and Nicobar Ecology (SANE). He said the new sites selected should not be in islands where water was scarce and where there was a threat to marine life and indigenous populations. The Andamans are home to isolated tribes such as the Onges, Jarawas and Sentinelese.
