Where is it?

Ko Lipe (Leepae) is the only inhabited island in the Butang group of islands in the South of Thailand. Located inside the Tarutao Marine National Park and within sight of the Malaysian Island of Langkawi. The area measures only four square kilometers wide.

This picturesque island offers a glimpse into the real Thailand. It’s uninhabited coconut plantations and friendly indigenous population offers a truly unique vacation experience.

How to get there?

To get to Ko Lipe you will need to first travel to PakBara (near Satun). From Bangkok then you can either fly South to Hat Yai or take a train to Hat Yai or Trang. From either of these towns you can catch a minibus to PakBara. There are minibus shops in Trang and in Hat Yai located opposite the train station which run at regular intervals and connect with the ferry in PakBara. The journey takes between about two hours. Similarly, if you are coming from Malaysia to Ko Lipe you can either fly or take a train or bus to Hat Yai. You can also get a bus from Phuket, Koh Samui and many other places in Thailand directly to Trang or Hat Yai and then connect onto PakBara where the boats leave for Ko Lipe.

There are a handful of small resorts and hotels available. Ko Lipe is just starting to be developed as a tourist destination so the current choice is limited.

What to do?

Check out the snorkeling and scuba diving. Ko Lipe is noted for its crystal clear waters, virgin forests and unusual

biodiversity. What to look out for?

The beaches are amongst the best in Thailand! They are quiet and allow for some real rest and relaxation.
