Singapore Airlines Enhances Mobile Flight Info Service
April 4, 2007 on 7:35 am | In Airlines, Asia, Singapore | No Comments
Singapore Airlines is requesting that customers provide their mobile phone contact at the time of reservation. The airline also is asking travel agents to ensure that this information is sent through to the airline as part of the process of making reservations for clients. The information will support the introduction of an enhanced mobile flight information service that alerts the customers, ahead of time, if their flight is re-timed. Customers will receive a text message on their mobile phone from the Airline (only if there is a significant change in flight time). The SMS will indicate the new flight time, and will be sent between three and 48 hours prior to the original flight time. This SMS service is available to all Singapore Airlines customers, with the exception of customers using mobile services in Japan and Korea, which operate on different networks.
The enhanced mobile flight information service is designed to minimize the inconvenience caused to customers in the event of a significant change in flight time known ahead of departure. It replaces the airline’s original “Arrivals & Departures Alert” service, which was available only to frequent flyers and customers who have registered for the flight alert service and registered their mobile numbers on the Singapore Airlines website.
To utilize the service, PPS and KrisFlyer club members, and registered members of the Singapore Airlines website can log in to www.singaporeair.com to provide, or update, their mobile phone numbers in their profile.
