California’s Kunde Estate announced its Eco-Green Tours and expanded Sustainable Winegrowing Hike schedules for 2008. Added to the schedule is the May 10 dog-friendly date, providing a wine country experience for dog lovers while raising funds for Canine Companions and the Sonoma County Humane Society.
The balance of the Sustainable Winegrowing Hikes will raise funds for the Sonoma Ecology Center. Altogether, 50 percent of the proceeds from the hikes will go to charity. Jeff Kunde, a fourth-generation winegrower, personally leads the Eco-Green Tours, offering wine and environmental enthusiasts an insider’s exploration of the family’s commitment to environmental sustainability throughout Kunde Estate’s winegrowing, land management and winery operations.
The four-hour hikes climb from the Sonoma Valley floor up 1,400 feet through the vineyards and into the Mayacamas Mountains and conclude with a wine tasting and gourmet lunch. Priced at $60 per person (pre-registration is required), the 2008 Eco-Green Tours take place April 26, June 14, Aug. 23 and Oct. 18.
The May 10 dog-friendly walk is $20 per person and dog pair (walk only). Bill Myers, a Sonoma Valley docent, will start his monthly Sustainable Winegrowing Hikes early this year, with dates scheduled for March 8, April 12, June 21, Aug. 16, Sept. 13, Nov. 15 and Dec. 20.
These hikes are $15, and guests are encouraged to bring a sack lunch.
