For those who think that Germany is the place for beer, think again. Lausanne is playing host to Switzerland’s largest beer festival where visitors will be able to guzzle more than 170 different varieties at this intoxicating event.

Taking place on 16 and 17 May, live music – ranging from funk to folk - accompanies the free flowing pints, with concerts taking place every evening in the town’s Place de la Navigation.

The Switzerland Travel Centre is offering short breaks covering the event with, for example, a two-night stay –departing London City on 16 May – costing from £239 per person (twin share) inclusive of return flights, rail transfers and accommodation with breakfast at the centrally-located three-star Hotel a la Gare. Flights are also available from a choice of regional airports (supplements may apply). 0207 420 4900, www.stc.co.uk
