BeachBooker Beach VillasA new visitor guide has been ‘launched’ at speed today – behind a pack of Siberian huskies in Scarborough.

David Shields, Operations Director of the Yorkshire Moors and Coast Tourism Partnership, explained: “This seemed a good way to demonstrate that you can expect the unexpected in the moors and coast. There are lots of well known reasons to visit the area, but there are plenty of things people don’t know about – and the huskies are one of a whole list of quirky activities to enjoy.”

The guide features a range of places to stay in the North York Moors National Park, Herriot Country, Ryedale and Scarborough. There’s also a round up of what to eat and drink – from the intriguingly named ‘Cereal Killer’ ale to heather-fed lamb. And, to ‘invigorate your senses’, suggestions include sailing, surfing, gliding, or trying out one of the two tree-top adventure courses in the region.

This was one of many deliveries for the ‘Holiday and Short Breaks Guide 2009’, which is now available at tourist information centres or can be downloaded at
