So choose from one of these themed mini breaks below and also enjoy the eclectic and vibrant feel Amsterdam has to offer. Each mini cruise includes coach transfers from the port to the city centre – where you will spend around five hours seeing the sights – as well as an optional sightseeing tour.

Valentine’s Mini Cruise and Romantic Amsterdam Mini Cruise

Make this Valentine’s Day one to remember with a romantic mini cruise. Choose from two different packages and surprise the love of your life. Both options include an à la carte meal on Valentine’s Day evening, complete with a rose and champagne.

For extra indulgence, sweep your loved one off their feet with the ‘Something Special’ mini cruise break. This includes accommodation in of DFDS Seaways’ Commodore Class cabins, evening meals and breakfasts on both crossings, and a little surprise waiting for you in your cabin on arrival.

Prices start from £112pp for a two night Valentine’s mini cruise, with departures from Newcastle on 13 and 14 February.

For those of you who still have more love to give after Valentine’s Day, why not try the DFDS Seaways Romantic Amsterdam mini cruise. Sailing every day, throughout the year, treat that special someone to one of the most exciting cities in Europe. Sparkling wine awaits you in your cabin and a two-course à la carte meal, buffet dinner and breakfasts are also included. Prices start from £127pp and are based on two people sharing a two-berth inside en suite cabin.

Comedy Mini Cruise

You will be laughing from the moment you step on board with two comedy themed mini cruise breaks. Top UK and international comics will amuse and entertain as you sail. Performing on the April cruise are Phil Butler, a comedian with boundless confidence and razor sharp wit; the irresistibly amiable John Ryan, who uses his acerbic wit to keep any audience on their toes; plus the top black comedian on the UK comedy circuit, Rudi Lickwood.

While the June mini cruise will include American Rex Boyd who is highly sought-after on the national and international circuit, award-winning comedienne Jo Enright of Phoenix Nights and I’m Alan Partridge, along with Ian Moore – a regular on the national comedy circuit, supporting the likes of Lee Evans.

St Patrick’s Day Mini Cruise

Queen’s Day Mini Cruise

DFDS Seaways invites you to party Dutch style and celebrate Holland’s national holiday to mark the Queen’s birthday. On board, the Queen tribute band The Bohemians – endorsed by Brian May himself – will headline the festivities. You will spend Queen’s Day in Amsterdam, right in the centre of the festival atmosphere, enjoying special performances, live music, street parties and outdoor markets.

Prices start at £79pp, based on two people sharing a two-berth inside en suite cabin and departure is on 29 April from Newcastle, but book before 5 April and save 25% per person (£59pp).

DFDS Seaways has some additional themed mini cruises taking place towards the end of the year. You can enjoy the best decade of the last century by embarking on a ‘70s cruise and dance the night away to the onboard Abba tribute band. Alternatively, if you are brave enough, then get on board for a spooky Halloween mini cruise. Departures are from Newcastle in October 2009.

And great for families and eco-interested travellers is the fantastic ORCA Wildlife mini cruise. Led by ORCA wildlife officers from whale and dolphin charity, you will spot wildlife, enjoy presentations and visit the bridge as you sail. Departures are every other day from April to September.
