KAMPALA, Uganda; –Founded in 1997, Volcanoes Safaris is a unique great ape ecotourism business specializing in mountain gorilla safaris to Uganda and Rwanda. The bold and inspired individuals at the head of the organization started bringing tourists into post-conflict Uganda and Rwanda with the idea that through partnerships with local communities, a successful organization would be built that would offer visitors a chance to see this stunning area of Africa.

It would also give local communities the chance to re-build after these events and maintain a peaceful and prosperous existence.

Over ten years later, Volcanoes Safaris has successfully implemented a series of projects including three unique eco-lodges—the only lodges in existence that are located near mountain gorilla parks.

These lodges provide a high level of comfort and elegance, but the people at Volcanoes Safaris are also committed to ecofriendly principles. They accomplish this by using alternative sources of energy such as solar power, reducing water consumption, and by controlling waste disposal. Most of all, they respect the local populations and recruit staff from those communities to manage the eco-lodges.
