The peaceful island nation of Fiji shelters a little-known core of remote rainforest highlands, opulent gorges of green and crystalline jungle waters all but unseen until now as O.A.R.S now offers travelers personal access to a protected area of wilderness.

As large as its legend for soul-soothing hospitality, Fiji’s seascape is the stuff of surreal chronicle. Waters of midnight blue, azure, and turquoise hug white silk shores, protect rainbow coral reefs, and serve as home to a magic myriad of fragile ocean life forms.

The nation is revered for its surf, sailing, and scuba bounty.

But there’s even more, on high. And that’s where O.A.R.S. takes you. Atop Viti Levu, the largest island in the Fijian archipelago, where two fantastic rivers run, all but unknown to the outside world until recently.

Flowing full with jungle rainwater, the Wainikoroiluva and Upper Navua are an integral part of the island’s beauty, running through green velvet gorges, past verdant nooks, caves and riverside villages thousands of years old. O.A.R.S offers single and multi-day trips that give you the chance to raft, kayak, hike, zip-line, snorkel, and scuba your way through Fiji.

In 2000, O.A.R.S signed the final papers for a 25-year lease of the land extending 200 meters on either side of the Upper Navua River to establish the Upper Navua Conservation Area in Fiji.

The lease precludes logging, road building or mining in the fragile river corridor and contributes to the ecological preservation of the area and O.A.R.S’ long-term commitment to the integrity of Upper Navua Gorge. OA.R.S employs local guides and pay the lease to local landowners with proceeds generated from their trips in the region. Simply put, their approach to business defines Fiji ecotourism.
