Spring is an exciting time for the City of Melbourne, with retailers showing off gorgeous spring dresses in spring-themed window displays, top restaurants unveiling fresh, spring menus featuring delicious seasonal ingredients, and cafes and bars serving zingy spring mocktails filled with fresh fruit juices. Spring is also the time when the city buzzes with the anticipation of the Spring Racing Carnival. A popular event in Melbourne’s events calendar, the carnival is a great time to spot elegant ladies and suave men, dressed to the nines in suits, frocks, hats and fascinators. To discover Melbourne in spring, the City is celebrating the launch of ‘Spring en Ville – Melbourne’ – a vibrant new spring walking tour of the city. The cosmopolitan tour will take in some of Melbourne’s newest retail shops, hidden treasures, and creative laneways and precincts, with stops at some of the city’s much-loved foodie hideaways.
“Spring is such an amazing time in the city,” Fiona Sweetman, Director of Hidden Secrets Tours said. “There are so many fabulous new stores and talented Australian designers, and I love the people watching when the Spring Racing Carnival starts! To celebrate Spring, we have developed a spring shopping tour, which will take Melburnians and visitors to many of the fabulous newer stores in the city and some great Australian designer favourites. The tour is also a great way to travel locally with a Parisian flair, as we visit milliners brimming with hat boxes and silks, indulge in amazingly cute cakes and perhaps some charming accoutrements!”
