Great Explorations is a boutique tour operator specializing in providing active vacations in North America, Europe and around the world.

They are a private company with a simple philosophy: to create and deliver exceptional, one-of-a-kind trips for spirited individuals and groups who prefer active travel as a way to see the world and to do it in the company of fun, interesting people.

Bicycling, walking, and hiking are the preferred means of travel for Great Explorations as they believe these to be the most rewarding ways to explore a place and to interact with its people.

Great Explorations takes adventurers to Canada, United States, France, Italy, Ireland, Spain, Morocco, Turkey, Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia, Thailand, Croatia, and Costa Rica.

Great Explorations was founded by Robbin McKinney, who previously worked as a guide for Butterfield & Robinson from 1985.

Robbin started the business because he wanted to make his passion, his work, full-time.

After leading trips around the world, he decided there was a niche for active travel of this kind.

Great Explorations is different from many companies in the active travel business in that they personally design and operate all of the trips.
