Creativity and imagination meets cutting-edge science at “Sum of All Thrills,” presented by Raytheon Company, the first-ever simulator attraction launched at Disney’s Epcot Center’s Innoventions Pavilion on Oct. 14, 2009.
Interactive and customizable, “Sum of All Thrills” allows visitors of all ages to create their own experience by first choosing a ride theme, including a roller coaster, bobsled or jet plane.
Using multi-touch, object recognition tables with instructions available in six languages, users use math and engineering-based tools, including rulers and speed dials, to design and customize their ride by adding corkscrews, inversions or steep hills.
At the culmination of their experience, users may experience their creations in a two-seat motion simulator.
The attraction is a core component of Raytheon’s “MathMovesU” program, an initiative designed to engage middle school students in math and science, and help create the next generation of innovators.
Located in Future World, Epcot’s Innoventions Pavilion is a unique area of the theme park that contains 100,000 square feet of interactive, hands-on exhibits that allow visitors to celebrate the inspiration and innovation that improve their lives and expand their horizons.
