Exclusive to The Pavilions, All 24 New Villas to Include an Individual Private Spa
Imagine a five-star tropical hideaway set in a terraced hillside. Picture yourself in an elegantly spacious villa, complete with its own inviting infinity pool. You lounge in your private retreat, appreciating the stylish touches and sweeping views of the tree-lined valleys and hills.
And when you’re ready to indulge in a pampering spa treatment… you simply step into your private spa facility that is integrated into the villa.
This unique experience will soon be a reality at The Pavilions, Phuket.
The Pavilions continues to set new standards in luxury resort living with its latest expansion.
Opening November 2010, the all-new development comprises 24 elegant pool villas, each one designed with its own fully-equipped, stand-alone spa.
Rather than ask guests to leave the sanctuary of their pool villa to visit a central health club, or have therapists create a makeshift spa with portable massage tables, each new villa boasts its own individual spa.
Measuring a spacious 60 m², the private spa is an extension of the villa and includes a separate steam shower room.
While enjoying a blissful treatment, couples overlook an oriental-themed courtyard, complete with a water feature and lush, densely-packed bamboo plants.
These unique, self-contained spas represent the ultimate in privacy and indulgence. Within their personal spa facility, couples can experience the rejuvenating benefits of a treatment from a professional therapist.
The therapist will enter the spa facility via a separate side entrance, ensuring guests’ privacy is never compromised and their time in the villa is uninterrupted.
The Pavilions’ spa menu includes both traditional Thai techniques and Western spa rituals.
Guests can indulge in a rejuvenating massage, a cleansing facial or a nourishing body scrub… all within the quiet comfort of their private spa.
The Pavilions is the only Phuket property to use products from Aromatherapy Associates. Found in the world’s best spas, the London-based Aromatherapy Associates is recognized for the quality, concentration and therapeutic power of their essential oils. Aromatherapy Associates consultants helped create The Pavilions’ signature spa treatments and train its therapists.
Aromatherapy Associates is also the chosen brand for The Pavilions’ in-villa bathroom amenities.
Nestled within a terraced hill and bordered by tropical greenery, this latest expansion will add to the 25 private retreats now available at The Pavilions.
Built on a former rubber plantation, the 24 new villas comprise six Plantation Pool Penthouses and 18 Plantation Pool Pavilions.
Epic in scale and elegant in design, access to these 24 top-tier residences will be via a cable-driven funicular, providing unparalleled views of the lush surrounds.
The Pavilions is a proud member of the Relais & Châteaux group, recognised around the world for their independent boutique hotels.
Located on the west side of the island just 20 minutes from Phuket International airport, The Pavilions sits majestically on a hilltop with panoramic views of the surrounding Bang Tao area.
Since opening in 2006, The Pavilions, Phuket, has earned a reputation as the ideal retreat for couples.
Indulgent, intimate and romantic, the private villas provide the perfect sanctuary.
With this latest expansion of 24 individual spas, The Pavilions continues the tradition.

The opening of Forest Floor Lodge
August 6, 2010 on 7:07 am | In Adventure Travel, Cabinweb, Vietnam | Comments Offpaves the way for Exotissimo to launch first overnight Cat Tien Tour
Premier travel company Exotissimo is now offering travelers the opportunity to explore Cat Tien National Park on a 3-day program marking the first of its kind within the region, specifically crafted to showcase the parks extreme beauty and diverse wildlife.
Bangkok, Thailand – Exotissimo Travel, a leading Destination Management Company in Southeast Asia, has launched a new 3-day Vietnam tour that combines soft adventure with exotic animal insights. Covering an area of 720 km², Cat Tien National Park serves to protect one of the largest areas of lowland tropical rainforest left in Vietnam.
Until recently overnight tours within the park have been limited due to the lack of accommodation within the region. With the announcement that the Forest Floor Lodge has opened within the park this is all set to change.
The Forest Floor Lodge features seven comfortable lodgings and deluxe tents, in well-secluded spots that look out over the Ben Cu River or the surrounding jungle.
Converted traditional Vietnamese houses have been fitted with traditional furnishings and equipped with the comfort of guests in mind; air conditioning units, mini-bars and ceiling-fans all feature. Guests can enjoy a menu of both international and Vietnamese cuisine, prepared from locally sourced ingredients reflecting the Lodges organic culinary stance.
Exotissimo 3-day excursion seeks to provide travelers with an alternative to the bustling Ho Chi Minh, situated just a 3 hour drive from the capital.
Here, markets and rickshaws are replaced by abundant nature and extensive biodiversity.
The hiking, bird-watching and biking potential within this region is by far the best in Southern Vietnam. Louise Nathan, Exo Group Product Manager said,
“We are excited to be able to offer this emerging destination to our clients, adding a new dimension to the existing Vietnam itineraries.
Cat Tien is one of Vietnam’s most important and largest National Parks and the area is rich in protected flora and fauna. Time spent here offers the chance to spot the Javan rhinoceros and the golden-cheeked gibbon, amongst many other indigenous species.
Our new tour is the perfect addition to an itinerary for those interested in the rich bio-diversity of Southeast Asia or looking for an interlude from the hustle and bustle of modern day Vietnam.”
Travelers will spend the first day participating in a light trek through the forest visiting a bear rehabilitation centre, established by Wildlife at Risk (a local NGO).
The second day of the tour continues to explore the wildlife of the region with a trek to ‘Crocodile Lake’, spotting varieties of exotic birdlife along the way and with any luck the critically endangered Siamese crocodile en-route.
Embarking on a scenic boat trip along the Ben Su River, travelers will observe the wildlife on the riverbank and diverse flora before finishing the day with a night safari.
The third and final day of the Cat Tien tour sees guests enjoy a leisurely breakfast overlooking the river before moving onto Dao Tien Endangered Primate Species Centre, an organization set up to rescue and rehabilitate endangered primates before releasing them back into the National park.
The Cat Tien National Park Tour can be customized to suit client’s preferences. For shorter or longer itineraries please contact Vietnam@exotissimo.com

New Halifax Credit Card Cuts The Cost Of Travel Money
August 6, 2010 on 5:09 am | In Ireland, London, Scotland, United Kingdom, Wales | Comments Off
New Halifax Clarity Credit Card will not charge a foreign exchange fee on any transaction or a cash withdrawal fee when using a cash machine abroad.
Halifax has this week launched the Halifax Clarity Credit Card, a new simple, no usage fees credit card. The new card will cut the cost of travel money for holidaymakers.
The Clarity Credit Card will make using a credit card abroad a more appealing option by charging no foreign exchange fees on all transactions including all purchases, and no cash withdrawal fees when using a cash machine abroad. Cardholders can also take advantage of the added protection using a credit card gives you.
Consumers still predominantly rely on cash abroad
According to research carried out by Halifax, over 30 million holidaying Brits are still changing their sterling for the currency of their destination in advance of travelling. Holidaymakers are relying on cash whilst abroad as they see it as the safest and most convenient form of payment; half of consumers (51%) see this as the most convenient form of payment on holiday, and almost 40% believe it is the most secure.
Card spending is on the rise
Despite the preference for cash amongst many holidaymakers, spending on debit and credit cards is on the rise. Credit cards saw a 5% increase in spending over the past 10 years with a third of British adults using a credit card whilst they are abroad: 10 million will use their card for shopping, 9 million for eating out, almost 8 million for unexpected expenses, 7 million for their accommodation costs and 3 million will use their credit card to withdraw cash.
Around 24 million people now turn to debit cards on holiday, compared to 10 million people 10 years ago.
Added protection cards offer is important but many still not aware of the benefits
The research indicates that those consumers who are using credit cards abroad do so for the protection they provide.
Just under half prefer not to carry large amounts of cash around and a quarter use them specifically for the added security they provide, such as protection against fraud, the safeguards offered under Section 75 laws, the ability to replace stolen or lost cards without any hassle and the peace of mind that comes from knowing that you have access to funds to cover any unexpected expenses.
However, the majority of consumers still believe cash is the safest form of payment whilst on holiday despite it offering no consumer protection, and only two thirds of consumers were aware of the additional security benefits credit cards offer consumers.
A simple, transparent card
The Halifax Clarity Credit Card launched this week aims to clear up any confusion consumers have around fees and spending on cards, meaning customers can have added peace of mind not only at home but when using a card abroad.
The key features of charging no foreign exchange fees on purchases, no fees for cash withdrawals and one flat rate of interest across all transactions means that consumers will see no difference in costs for using their card whilst they are on holiday.
The overall card package features include:
- No usage fees. This includes no cash withdrawal fee, no foreign exchange fees, no balance transfer fee and no annual fee.
- One simple and competitive rate of 12.9% APR for all transactions including purchases, balance transfers and even cash withdrawals.
- Plus, the benefit of an additional GBP5 monthly cashback reward for our qualifying current account customers, when they spend GBP300 or more on the card in each statement period
Mark Powys, Halifax Credit Cards, comments: “Our research shows that three quarters of holidaymakers would be more likely to use a credit card abroad if they knew they wouldn’t incur any fees. The Halifax Clarity Credit Card is the best value option for customers planning their holiday budget, and with no cash fees and a single low rate however you use the card it’s a winner at home too.”
