Collette Vacations to Absorb Cost of New Italian Hotel Taxes
July 26, 2011 on 2:30 pm | In Beachbooker, Italy, Rome | Comments Off
Collette Vacations will absorb the cost of any additional hotel taxes imposed by the Florence and Venice city councils.
With the new tax increase, travelers staying at four- and five-star hotels located in these cities will be charged 4 euros per person, per night. Florence began its tax increase on July 1 and Venice is slated to start Aug. 28.
In January, Collette had already announced their commitment to absorb the cost of a similar hotel tax for their travelers to Rome. While some tour operators are offering to credit passengers who are obligated to pay the tax upon check-in, Collette’s tour managers will pay the new tax upon check out of the hotel.
“We want to assure travel agents who have clients on one of our many Italy tours that include Florence, Venice or Rome — or who have clients thinking about travel to these cities in the future — that our pricing is guaranteed,” said Dan Sullivan Jr., president and CEO. “Your clients will not be billed for the new tax and there will be no need for reimbursement.”
