SkyTeam Invites Members to Share Airport Travel Tips

SkyTeam, the global airline alliance, is celebrating the success of its SkyTips campaign. Customers worldwide are invited to share their airport travel tips on Facebook for a chance to win tickets to China.

Every month, a member airline provides a prize for the tip with the most votes on the SkyTeam Facebook page. December’s prize is offered by China Southern.

Two winners will each receive two roundtrip tickets from the U.S., Europe or Australia to Guangzhou in China, offering the winners a chance to experience the Chinese New Year celebrations at the end of January 2012. Tips can be posted between Dec.1 and 31.

Since the SkyTips competition was launched in June 2011, the SkyTeam Facebook page has grown from 1,500 to almost 46,000 fans.

To enter the competition, customers need to “like” SkyTeam’s Facebook page and click on the SkyTips icon. There is no limit to how many tips customers can post.

Winners are decided by the number of votes each tip receives. Detailed conditions can be found on the SkyTeam Facebook page.

Travel Wisconsin once again will offer snow conditions reports and this is offering a mobile version accessible from any smartphone.

The report, available at www.TravelWisconsin.com , tracks snow conditions for trails, parks and ski areas throughout the winter season. Nearly 724,000 people viewed the online snow conditions report last winter, making it the most popular page on www.TravelWisconsin.com

The site relies on 130 snow condition reporters in all 72 counties. Reporting is done virtually live — meaning reporters from chambers of commerce, visitor bureaus, tourism organizations, state parks and forests, and snowmobile clubs update their area’s status as conditions change. At a minimum, snow conditions reporters update once a week. Winter enthusiasts can subscribe to have the report emailed to them every Wednesday.

InterContinental Hotels Partners with Grand-Am Road Racing

InterContinental Hotels Group announced a new partnership with Grand-Am Road Racing, to officially launch in 2012.

This marks the first time Grand-Am has an official hotel partnership. As the official hotel of Grand-Am Road Racing, IHG will assist in securing rooms for the governing body, its racing teams and partners.

Additionally, fans will be able to book their lodging for races through the Grand-Am website. Future plans also include identifying host hotels in each of the respective race markets. IHG looks to gain exposure for its upscale InterContinental Hotels & Resorts brand through Grand-Am’s marketing channels.

KLM Michelin-Starred Chef’s Cuisine in Business Class

KLM Royal Dutch Airlines will serve meals by the Flemish Chef Peter Goossens of restaurant Hof van Cleve in World Business Class starting Dec. 1.

Hof van Cleve has three Michelin stars, and was ranked 15th among the world’s top 50 restaurants in 2011.

“KLM is continuing to work with top chefs and sommeliers,” said Erik Varwijk, managing director of KLM. Goossens’ meals will be served from Dec. 1, 2011, to the end of September 2012 on intercontinental flights from Amsterdam.

KLM and Goossens have developed a total of three menus.

When composing the menus, Goossens drew his inspiration from typically Flemish products, giving them an international twist.

Wines to accompany each meal have been specially selected by the Hof van Cleve sommelier, who has several times been named the best sommelier in Belgium.
