The Cancun Convention & Visitors Bureau will host the Diving Emergency Symposium for the first time from July 25 to 31, 2012. Situated on the Caribbean Sea with access to the world’s second-largest barrier reef, Cancun is one of the most recognizable and attractive diving destinations in Mexico and the Caribbean.

This event is organized by the Scuba Cancun Dive Center and Divers Alert Network and serves to reinforce Cancun’s commitment to scuba diving safety.

The varied array of underwater attractions that this destination offers, from snorkeling and scuba diving to swimming with whale sharks, makes this training program a great benefit to Cancun and the millions of annual visitors it receives.

The training provides tourist diving services, among others, the tools to effectively handle a diving emergency with efficiency and professionalism.

The symposium will be held for the first time outside of the United States at the Hotel Krystal Cancun. Scuba divers, dive masters, scuba instructors, crew boats, divers, paramedics, soldiers and doctors are welcome to attend this event and learn how to respond to emergencies related to underwater activities.

Divers Alert Network (DAN) is a nonprofit group that encourages diving safety. Its mission is to help divers in need of emergency assistance and to promote diving safety worldwide through education and research.
