Enjoy an affordable city break to a corner of the French coast through our blog article series on budget travel.
We’ve put together a two-part budget holiday series to give you ideas on how to visit Marseille, La Rochelle and Ile de Ré without breaking the bank. We cover information on transport, accommodation, food and attractions so that you can make sure to see the best of what these glam cities have to offer with money leftover to spend on kitsch memorabilia!
Marseille – Due to be European Capital of Culture in 2013, this multicultural Mediterranean city has so much culture on offer, it’s hard to know where to begin. You can start with a ride on its brand new shuttle boat and head over to the Frioul Islands to see the Chateau d’If, followed by a Friday stroll down its rue de l’Aïoli to taste a typical Provence meal at one of its lively establishments?
La Rochelle & Ile de Ré – These sister ‘cities’ off the western coast of Poitou Charentes offer two maritime city breaks for the price of one. Pick up a public bike in young and dynamic La Rochelle to cycle by its harbour and across to the jetsetter’s paradise, Ile de Ré, to discover its natural seaside heritage at the Ancre Maritaise.
From Thursday, we’ll be posting these articles on our My France à Moi blog so keep an eye out for details on how to get the most out of your pennies on your next seaside adventure to France!
