HomeMuseumsRome’s Vatican Museum Brings Headset Operation in House

After Jan. 2, 2013, groups touring the Vatican Museum will no longer be permitted to provide their won headphones, according to the European Tour Operators Association. The Vatican will require visitors to use headsets supplied by the Vatican Museums, which are Antenna Audio International.

The admission fee to the museum will also increase on that date. ETOA said it does not know if there will be an extra charge for the use of the headsets. The association said it had scheduled a meeting with the Vatican Museums at the end of September, but the meeting was canceled and no rescheduling has yet taken place.

ETOA said it does not know whether their headsets are to be compulsory only within the Vatican Museums or whether this condition extends to St Peter’s Basilica.
