Ever since Spanish explorer Juan Ponce de Leon first set foot on the beach at ‘La Florida’, St Augustine in 1513, Europeans have been attracted to Florida to enjoy its diverse features, history and, of course, sunshine. Viva Florida is a year-long celebration of the Sunshine State’s 500 years of visitors, with events from re-enactments to festivals, and living history activities across the whole state, including Florida’s well-known destinations, such as The Everglades and Florida Keys, to some of the lesser known, historic regions, such as St Augustine, Pensacola and Tallahassee. www.visitflorida.com/viva
