Several major railroads announced Monday they will be operating additional full-length dome car for their Train to Christmas Town event this holiday season.
“The full-length, Diamond Class dome cars are our most popular cars,” Director of Special Events Matt Abbey said in a statement. “Guests sitting on the upper level of these cars can look out of curved glass windows at the horizon and sky, and help search for Santa Claus.”
“Tables for four guests make it easier to eat cookies and drink cocoa and there is a special mug for Diamond Class guests,” Abbey continued. “It’s also easier to see the elves and characters.”
The characters and story being told throughout the journey are based on the book, Train to Christmas Town. On the journeys, iconic characters from the story will be walking around the train, including Wabash the squirrel, Zephyr the cat and Bumblebee the bear.
In addition, passengers will also be treated to cocoa, cookies, a book reading, a visit from Santa with a gift for each child and Christmas carols on the way back. The rail trip will take passengers to Christmas Town and back to the station.
There will also be festive holiday music from the Grammy-nominated band Trout Fishing in America playing at the stations and inside the cars.
