An inn-to-inn walk across the Cotswolds is among the new self-guided routes for 2017 being unveiled today by Foot Trails (01747 820626; www.foottrails.co.uk), the West Country walking-holiday specialist.
The 10-night independent trip, from Chipping Campden to Bath, will be specially designed to follow local paths, avoiding the crowded national trails. Guests will stay in hand-picked, top-quality country inns that offer delicious, often award-winning food and drink, and a touch of luxury in the bedrooms. And, as with all Foot Trails’ holidays, notes will be provided about local history and nature to immerse guests in the cultural landscape and re-engage them with the natural environment. The Ultimate Cotswolds, the new break’s working title, will go on sale in late 2016.
The award-winning travel company will also extend its four- or five-night inn-to-inn journey Dorset Royal Chase. Six- and seven-night itineraries will be available in 2017, including the addition of a third country inn, to enable guests to delve deeper into this ancient landscape, from its chalk downs and hamlets of flint-and-brick cottages to the ancient royal hunting grounds of Cranborne Chase. The new breaks will be available to book from February 2017.
Wales is also in Foot Trails’ sights, with plans to make its first foray into the country due to be unveiled in April 2017.
