Kwandwe, one of South Africa’s largest Big Five private safari reserves, offers exceptional Carbon Neutral wildlife viewing. The reserve’s diverse landscape is home to a wide variety of game including the Big 5 and a number of endangered and threatened species.
Just recently introduced are the specialist guides who encourage guests to spend as much time out of the vehicle as in: Big Game walks accompanied by an armed ranger and tracker; Bush Walks, taking in the reserve’s impressive biodiversity; Fishing for the challenging-to-catch bass. There is also birding and photographic safaris, a 3 day Rhino Conservation Safari and a Campfire Cooking Safari.Kwandwe’s safaris are fun and interactive with flexibility at the core of the experience.
Kwandwe is impressive in size and comparable to 4 times Bermuda but with only 26 rooms split between two individually designed safari lodges (Ecca and Great Fish River Lodges) and three private safari villas (Melton Manor, Uplands Homestead and recently opened Fort House), all newly refurbished. The design and style of the safari villas are particularly well suited to multi-generational and multi-interest travellers.
Malaria free Kwandwe is ideal for Family safaris. They too have an adventurous eco-focus with activities tailored to different age groups, from ‘poo safaris’ for little ones to newly added scavenger and treasure hunts involving compasses, clues and landmarks for older kids. Even the gastronomic offering, both in lodge and out on the reserve, offers an element of innovation and surprise. It is these subtleties that make a safari at Kwandwe stand apart and provide a variety of unexpected stories. We look forward to telling you more at IMM.
