I’d love to introduce you to the new book Base Camp Las Vegas: 101 Hikes in the Southwest by Deborah Wall (Imbrifex Books) scheduled to be released on, July 8, 2017.
Wall is an expert in the field of hiking and has hiked each trail at least once. She also took the stunning photographs in the book. Wall includes such information as the best time of year to hike each trail to catch the best flora, fauna and wildlife; how to pack to hike in the desert; which trails are suitable for families with young children and even where to see examples of Wild West history. The best part – you can make your base camp in Las Vegas and hike each of these trails during the day.
I hope the book inspires you to go take a hike – in the Southwest or on your local trails! Please forward your complete address to request an advance copy of Base Camp Las Vegas. We would love to hear your thoughts about the book! Wall is available as an expert resource on hiking and all forms of outdoor activities (see her bio below), to write exclusive guest articles and is happy to provide excerpts and photos from her book for publication.
About the author: Deborah Wall lives in Las Vegas and has spent her life enjoying all forms of outdoor sports including hiking, sailing, canyoneering, rappelling, kayaking and winter camping. Wall has been a columnist since 2005 for The View Newspapers in Las Vegas and has published over a hundred feature articles – which include her photographs – in numerous Southwestern books and publications and has won a Nevada Press Association Award for Excellence.
Synopsis: This is first book in a planned series of six. It is a full-color, hiking guide premised on the observation that certain cities around the country are ideally suited for undertaking extraordinary hiking adventures during the day and then returning to relax in world-class urban amenities at night. Uniquely, the author has hiked each trail at least once and has taken all the photographs. She’s also included an easy-reference guide to the top five hikes in a variety of categories including bird watching, stargazing, wildflowers, wetlands, kid and teen favorites, most strenuous, and most remote. Base Camp Las Vegas tells hikers where and when to go—and also how to prepare—to enjoy the best trails this unparalleled region has to offer.
