Outpost International will celebrate the grand opening of the Machaca Hill Lodge at Laughing Falcon Reserve in Belize on April 14. The eco-lodge, Outpost’s first major eco-development, is nestled in the lush landscape of the Toledo district in Southern Belize.
It is situated on a private, 11,000-acre reserve that is home to many of Belize’s jaguars and is bordered by densely forested limestone hills and the Rio Grande River, offering views of the jungle with Seven Hills and the Caribbean Sea in the distance. The airy main building welcomes guests into a lobby with open verandas on two levels, a reception area, a bar, a gift shop and an activities desk. The restaurant, located on the top floor of the lodge, features fresh seafood and regional cuisine made with locally grown ingredients.
Terraced along the hillside surrounding the lodge, Machaca Hill offers 12 spacious cabanas. In each of 10 of the cabanas, guests will find two queen-size beds, a sitting area and a private bath with handmade ceramic tile, and a private veranda. The property’s two suites include a luxury suite with plush modern décor, two queen-size beds and a large bathroom, and a honeymoon suite with a four poster, king-size bed. The Despite its secluded location, the lodge offers wireless Internet connection throughout.
Lodge guests can choose from an array of activities, such as birding, hiking, canoeing on a river and tours of a flower and fruit farm. Additionally, guests can schedule specially tailored excursions to local attractions, such as caves, rivers, and waterfalls and Maya temples. A variety of packages are available. The lodge is located five minutes by road from Punta Gorda Town, which is one hour by plane from Belize City.
