Lokuthula Lodges offer an affordable safari experience in Victoria Falls for independent travellers & families
This autumn, leading Southern African hotel and lodge operator, Africa Albida Tourism (AAT), is challenging the belief that seeing the big five has to break the bank, by inviting independent travellers and families to book a self-catered or B&B safari at Lokuthula Lodges in Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe. This accommodation option, available at affordable prices for those travelling on smaller budgets, allows animal lovers to experience unforgettable game-viewing opportunities, without compromising on comfort, space or privacy.
Meaning “place of peace”, the 31 rustic Lokuthula Lodges are located just 3km from the hustle and bustle of Victoria Falls town, nestled in quiet, lush gardens frequented by warthogs, bushbuck and mongoose. Here guests can spot wildlife and a rich variety of birds from the comfort of their private terrace. The two and three-bedroom split level lodges accommodate up to six or eight people respectively, and provide guests with everything they need for a self-catered safari. From a fully equipped kitchen, to parking, and same day laundry services on site, guests staying at Lokuthula Lodges will want for nothing.
After a busy day exploring the Victoria Falls Rainforest or going on an exhilarating game drive, independent travellers staying at Lokuthula Lodges can relax with a sundowner in hand in their own spacious lounges or on their terraces. Foodies can take advantage of the BBQ area for an al fresco family feast, stocking up on food from the two large supermarkets in the nearby town centre. Those looking for a night off from cooking can head to the award-winning Boma Dinner & Drum Show just metres away, a legendary dining and entertainment experience in Victoria Falls that offers an unforgettable fusion of mouth-watering local cuisine, spirited dance performances, interactive drumming and traditional storytelling. Parents looking for some precious time together can take advantage of Lokuthula Lodges’ babysitting service, while they embark on a dreamy sunset river cruise down the Zambezi or a romantic dinner for two at AAT’s fine-dining MaKuwa-Kuwa Restaurant, located nearby at Victoria Falls Safari Lodge, the group’s flagship property.
When not exploring the local area, guests at Lokuthula Lodges can take advantage of the superb facilities on their doorstep. The lodges share a three-tier swimming pool, with dining options including The Boma Café, complete with Wi-Fi access, which serves light meals and snacks throughout the day, and The Boma Bar with satellite TV, the perfect place to unwind after an adventure-filled morning. While parents relax by the pool, younger members of the family will be kept entertained with access to a children’s adventure playground with trampoline, volleyball court and paddling pool. Other onsite activities include the bird hide, nature trails and the Vulture Culture Experience, where guests can get a unique perspective on vulture behaviour during a daily feeding experience, which forms part of the estate’s conservation efforts. This complimentary and educational activity takes place at 1pm on a daily basis just below the Buffalo Bar viewing deck at Victoria Falls Safari Lodge.
A self-catered safari at Lokuthula Lodges doesn’t mean guests have to completely fend for themselves. With a 24-hour reception and security service, a dedicated activities desk, and daily shuttle service to the Falls, guests can rest assured that the AAT team are on hand to help with any queries and to book excursions and experiences, ensuring they make the most of this stunning destination which has so much to offer. From game drives to helicopter rides to white water rafting, it’s no wonder Victoria Falls is the adventure capital of Africa.
The team at AAT understands that the needs of guests are different, which is why Lokuthula Lodges can be booked on a self-catered or bed and breakfast basis, giving maximum flexibility without breaking the budget. Combining the space, privacy and flexibility of a self-catering getaway with the convenience of a luxury hotel stay, Africa Albida Tourism is leading the way for a new trend in affordable alternative accommodation. Families and independent travellers can book in for a hassle-free safari that offers the best of both worlds!
