Everything begins in Munich, an impressive, inviting city with a booming economy. Your first day is a free day in Munich, yours to decide. You can kick your feet up and relax away your jet lag. Or take your new bike into the countryside and get to know her properly. You may also choose to explore around Munich and mingle with the Bavarians, visit a museum, beer-garden, or one of the thousands of other options the city has to offer.
When you leave Bavaria the next day, you’ll enter the Allgäu, where the towns ooze Roman and Medieval history. As the altitude increases and the roads twist, Austria will open the gateway to the Alps and the entrance into the heart of this tour.

The beauty of Switzerland is best seen from up high, and the Swiss have provided an amazing network of roads to do just that. The roads are well paved and brilliantly engineered. Combined with a BMW motorcycle they take one to remarkable places.
From the first Swiss pass, the Klausen, you’ll realize that the difficulty this tour presents is how to handle the overwhelming choices of passes each day and the beauty of Switzerland. Your next free day is in Interlaken, a beautiful town squeezed in between two lakes and surrounded by mountain peaks. Here, you can choose to explore the region by BMW, cable car, cog train, or on foot. There is a lake to cruise, a castle to explore, and a glacier-covered mountain to see!

This is where the tour earns its moniker – the Swiss Splendor. Leaving Interlaken, you will find the most impressive roads as the route strays from tourist routes and “Rob’s White Roads” take you to views unseen by the vast majority of travelers. As the cultures transform with the land from Swiss to Romansh to Germanic, you may even choose a route that dips into South Tyrol and rides over the Stelvio Pass, the second highest in the Alps. This famous stop will be filled with drivers, riders, even bicyclists, all here for the same reason you are.
The last days will take you through the roads and villages of the Tyrol in Austria, before the final ride back to Munich. There will still be time before leaving to “be a tourist” outside of the normal busy days, leaving you with a laid-back conclusion to this Splendid Swiss Adventure.
