Next weekend the new TGV Atlantique line will be launched, seeing the travel time between Paris and Bordeaux cut from around 3 ½ hours to just two hours (and a few minutes, but who’s counting?)! This speedy service will make it so quick and easy to reach the cosmopolitan city of Bordeaux, that there has never been a better time to visit!
Grape Escapes offer a great value Bordeaux break, starting at just £443 per person! Their Essential Bordeaux package can be taken as a three day/two night or four day/three night trip, and guests can opt to stay at their preferred city centre hotel, with options ranging from 3*-5*. This tour offers an excellent introduction to the wines of the region, with an extensive tasting session on the first evening, followed by a full day guided and transported tour visiting either the Médoc or Saint-Emilion as preferred. Guests will have the chance to visit three Châteaux during the tour, tasting a variety of Bordeaux wines, and the day is rounded off in style with a fabulous wine tasting dinner served in a local restaurant! If opting for the four day break, Grape Escapes arrange an additional day tour to the appellation not visited on the first day, visiting a further three Châteaux.
The Atlantique TGV will also extend the possibilities for ease of travel to other fabulous regions in the West of France, such as Cognac! Travel here in around three hours (changing at Angoulême), and discover the fantastic Cognac Houses with Grape Escapes on their newly released Essential Cognac break. The three day/two night break is based at the charming 4* Hotel François Premier, ideally located in the heart of the town centre, just 15 minutes’ walk from the train station. Guests will visit Maisons Meukow and Hennessy, to discover the Cognac-making process, and to delight in a selection of the Cognacs produced here! The highlight of your tour will be the delicious three course Cognac tasting lunch, served at one of the estates. If opting for the four day package, Grape Escapes will organise for you to visit two further Cognac Houses, and will ensure the gastronomic delights of the region are fully explored, with a Michelin starred-lunch accompanied by drinks being served during the extra day. Prices start at £341 per person on the three day break, or £623 for those interested in the four day option.
