Air New Zealand will take flight to Taiwan from November 2018.
It announced it will fly up to five times a week between Auckland and Taipei’s Taoyuan International Airport on Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft.
The flight takes just over 11 hours.
“Air New Zealand’s new service is significantly quicker and more convenient than current indirect options. New Zealand already welcomes around 36,000 visitors a year from the Taiwan market and we’re confident a direct link will grow numbers further. Providing a non-stop service to Taipei will also enable more Kiwis to explore this destination,” the airline said.
Fares are now on sale although the route launch is still subject to regulatory approval.
Air New Zealand just announced pre-tax earnings of $323 million on operating revenue of $2.7 billion.
It says it is on course to post the second highest profit in its history.
