The Philippines’ main budget carrier Cebu Pacific will wing its way To Melbourne later this year.
From 14 August 2018, Cebu Pacific will start flying to Melbourne three times a week and becomes the carrier’s second Aussie destination after launching Sydney flights..
“We share the excitement of the Filipino community in Melbourne and Australian travellers who want to experience the Philippines,” said Candice Iyog, VP for marketing and distribution, Cebu Pacific.
“The launch of our service between Melbourne and Manila will give travelers from Australia seamless connections to other destinations in the Philippines at year-round low fares.”
The route operates on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays using Airbus A330-330 aircraft.
The airline expects strong demand with a sizeable Filipino community in Victoria and inbound tourist arrivals to Australia from the Philippines has steadily risen by an average 16% over the past four years.
“We are thrilled to secure Cebu Pacific Air at Melbourne Airport in a move that creates more choice and frequency for travellers flying to and from the Philippines and beyond. There is significant traveller demand in the route especially in the visiting friends and relatives market,” said Melbourne Airport chief of aviation, Simon Gandy.
