Hainan Airlines is expanding its North American network.
Starting May 25, Hainan begins flying to Vancouver from Tianjin and Shenzhen.
It becomes the airline’s third route to Canada.
Hainan already flies from Calgary and Toronto to Beijing.
Flights departing Vancouver connect with Shenzhen Bao’an International Airport via a stop atTianjin Binhai Airport twice a week.
The route will be operated using Airbus 330 jets.
“It’s great to start the year with the announcement of a new airline partner. As the first airport in Canada offering service to Shenzhen and Tianjin, the route will provide direct access to new markets for business and offer more options for leisure exploring China,” said Craig Richmond, CEO of Vancouver Airport Authority.
This year is the 10th anniversary of Hainan Airlines’ first flight to North America and 2018 is also China-Canada Year of Tourism.
Jichun Liu, Vice President of Hainan Airlines said: “Following our Toronto-Beijing and Calgary-Beijing routes, this new Vancouver service demonstrates Hainan Airlines’ confidence in the China-Canada civil aviation market.
