Minnesota based Sun Country Airlines has announced several new domestic and overseas routes in one of its biggest ever route expansions.
It is moving beyond its Minneapolis hub to offer seasonal flights from Dallas-Fort Worth to Las Vegas four times a week; Portland, Oregon to Orlando; and five weekly flights between Seattle and Anchorage.
Sun Country is adding nonstop flights to Cancun and Los Cabos from Austin and San Diego respectively.
Twin Cities’ travelers will get more options to Santa Rosa/Sonoma County in California Wine Country with expanded seasonal service and to Austin.
All services are seasonal kicking off in June through mid or late August.
“We pride ourselves on delivering convenient, reliable, and friendly service at an affordable price. We look forward to bringing that value to more customers through this route network expansion,” said CEO Jude Bricker.
The airline is moving to a low cost carrier model to better compete in the market and recently announced it was laying off 350 workers to outsource its ground handling operations at MSP.
The airline is being acquired by New York investment firm Apollo Global Management.
