Members of ‘all you can fly’ subscription based airline Surf Air can now pay their monthly fees with cryptocurrencies.
Surf Air will accept Bitcoin and Ethereum payments for monthly membership fees or to charter an aircraft.
The company is using the Coinbase platform to handle the digital currency payments which it calls ‘a natural progression’ as an air travel disruptor.
“Surf Air was built on the idea of disrupting and changing the way the world sources, purchases and accesses air travel so it only makes sense that we would also be on the cutting-edge of accepting disruptive and progressive forms of payment such as Bitcoin and Ethereum,” said Sudhin Shahani, chairman and CEO of Surf Air in a release.
“Bitcoin users are a tremendously motivated community of early adopters. By creating connective tissue between these forward-thinking business models, I believe we’re molding the future for consumer-first, experience-driven commerce.”
Surf Air has four tiers of membership which allows unlimited travel in California and Texas, US-wide, in Europe or globally.
Due to its surge in value, a single Bitcoin will currently get five months of Surf Air Basic Membership.
