‘All-you-can-fly’ subscription membership only airline Surf Air plans to expand its customer base with the option of buying single tickets.
It is running a crowdsourcing campaign on Indiegogo to fund a new semi-private hybrid program allowing customers to buy for single journeys.
The new program would still require a membership fee of a much reduced $2,500 per year and then all one-way flights would be priced from $445.
Existing Surf Air all-you-can-fly membership is at least $1,950 a month.
“We’re continuing to upgrade the travel experience by opening up the Surf Air network to a completely new market of travelers,” said Surf Air CEO Sudhin Shahani.
The airline says its prices are comparable to business and last-minute economy fares, and by offering bookings on a per-seat basis will significantly expand its customer base and generate funds to expand its network.
The new pricing model, which is not subject to change or cancellation fees, will be available for travel to all Surf Air destinations including Palm Springs, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Santa Barbara, Dallas, Austin, and Houston.
