Now’s the time to plan for peak holidays this fall, says Scott Keyes, founder of Scott’s Cheap Flights. Gone are the days of last minute cheap airfare, so here are his recommendations to shop smart and save this June. Your future self with thank you.
-With 5+ days off school/work, Thanksgiving is one of the best times of year to travel internationally. Plus, most people visit family in the US over Thanksgiving, international flight prices tend not to see the same price spike that we see with domestic flights. Booking these at least a few months in advance is advisable to get the best fares.
-When everyone else is thinking summer travel, the savvy flyer is busy planning their Christmas/New Year’s trip. Winter holidays are one of the most expensive times of the year to travel. You’re much more likely to find a good deal booking at least six months in advance than you are come autumn.
– Recommendation: London, Iceland, or Barcelona. Just recently there were nonstop flights during New Year’s to these European cities under $500 from Chicago, LA, NYC, San Francisco, or San Jose.
Mexico for Day of the Dead
– A very popular (and sometimes pricey) time to visit Mexico. While fares will likely shoot up in August and September, booking now-ish for one of the fall’s best western hemisphere holiday’s is the best way to get a good deal.
If you want any additional tips or specific deals, please let me know. Happy to arrange a media subscription to test out the SCF service. His team only sends flights that are about $200+ off typically much more – not those small $50 dip, so it’s worth your while and his members.
