Bahamas Out Islands
January 25, 2012 on 4:38 pm | In Bahamas, Beachbooker, Caribbean | Comments Off
The Bahamas Ministry of Tourism will launch a comprehensive marketing initiative to focus on the 16 Bahamian islands beyond the capital of Nassau its Paradise Island resorts, according to Vincent Vanderpool-Wallace, the country’s tourism minister.
The “out island” destinations will be marketed individually, with special emphasis placed on their indigenous cultures and vacation experiences unavailable in Nassau, which attracts the lion’s share of the attention from the country’s 5.6 million annual visitors.
“We have divided the islands into 16 separate groups, all represented by their own logos,” said Vanderpool-Wallace, speaking at a press conference during the Caribbean Hotel & Tourism Association conference in Nassau.
“The Bahamas’ 16 islands have more diversity than is found in the Caribbean islands outside of the country.
“We want the islands to become a multiple-destination experience within one destination.”
The new program will debut in March, with details featured on the Bahamas website.
