The 4th Annual Strawberry Hill “High Stakes” Backgammon Tournament is scheduled for the weekend of April 24-26, 2009. This unique event centered around the classic game of backgammon will have a maximum of 32 entrants who will be participate for over J$2.0M (approx. US$20,000) in cash & prizes.

Entry fee is US$500 of which 85% is returned to winners in cash prizes. Cash prizes are awarded up to 6th place. Throughout the weekend, players will enjoy delectable foods and a selection of premium liquors and rums, which will be included in the registration fee.

The three-day event kicks off on Friday evening with a welcome cocktail party and registration at the boutique hotel’s newly refurbished β€˜Living Lounge.’ The tournament play will commence at 10:00am sharp on Saturday, April 25th and last into the EARLY evening.

During the day, there will also be an exciting art exhibit from British Pop Artist, Peter Gee and the Impressionist painter Sophia Arts, as well as students from the Edna Manley School and other local artists.

Sunset Resorts in Jamaica is offering a complimentary honeymoon package for newlyweds at all three Jamaica properties — Sunset Beach Resort & Spa in Montego Bay, Sunset Jamaica Grande Resort & Spa in Ocho Rios and Sunset at the Palms in Negril.

Guests that stay a minimum of five nights at any of the three Sunset Resorts can enjoy this value-added package. The Sunset Resorts Honeymoon package includes a welcome gift and bottle of champagne upon arrival and a one-category upgrade (based upon availability upon arrival).

All packages are subject to availability and are based on double occupancy. Reservation of a Sunset Saver category or higher for a minimum of a five nights stay is required.

This honeymoon package requires proof of marriage which must be presented upon check-in and the wedding ceremony must have taken place within 30 days prior to the date of arrival. This package is also available for weddings that take place at any of the three Sunset Resorts properties.

Room category upgrade is not available at Sunset at the Palms. The Honeymoon package is valid for new U.S. and Canadian reservations from May 1, 2009, through Dec. 31, 2010.
