LAS VEGAS – R&B and soul singer Bobby Brooks Wilson will perform at Sam’s Town Live! on Friday, December 5.
Wilson first made waves in the entertainment community for his remarkable impression of legendary Jackie Wilson – later to find out that the man he emulated ontage was his father. Wilson got his start in a talent show performing the James Ingram classic, “Just Once,” and became a regular at karaoke bars. After an impressive performance of the Motown classic “My Girl,” Peter Hernandez of Peter and the Love Notes approached Wilson and invited him to perform with the Hernandez family, including Hernandez’s son, Bruno Mars.
During a Hernandez family performance, 1960s rocker Paul Revere of Paul Revere and the Raiders recognized Wilson’s talents and likeness as similar to those Jackie Wilson, and later recommended him to perform as Jackie Wilson in an impersonator show in Las Vegas. As his profile for impersonation grew, more and more industry professionals recognized him as a dead ringer for Jackie Wilson, down to his signature laugh; a blood test later confirmed they were father and son.
Today, Wilson performs impressions besides Wilson, including Sam Cooke, Stevie Wonder and Little Richard. His album “It’s About Time” was released in 2012 and includes soulful covers of Jackie Wilson’s “I Get the Sweetest Feeling” and Otis Redding’s “I’ve been Loving You Too Long,” among others.

LAS VEGAS—Motown legends The Temptations return to The Orleans Showroom with their celebrated Motown sound November 29 and 30.
Selling tens of millions of albums with more than 50 years of smash hits and sold-out performances, The Temptations pioneered popular music. An essential component of Barry Gordy’s original Motown machine, The Temptations began their musical career in Detroit in the early ‘60s. In 1964, they scored their first major hit with the Smokey Robinson-penned and produced “The Way You Do the Things You Do.”
A cavalcade of hits followed, including “My Girl,” “It’s Growing,” “Since I Lost My Baby,” “Get Ready,” “Ain’t Too Proud to Beg,” “Beauty Is Only Skin Deep” and “I Wish It Would Rain.”
When the ‘60s and ‘70s turned political, The Temptations got serious. They changed their tone, dress and music with such hits as “Runaway Child,” “Cloud Nine,” “I Can’t Get Next To You,” “Papa Was a Rolling Stone” and “Psychedelic Shack.” The Temptations’ explosion continued in the ‘80s with their appearance on “Motown 25” in 1983, and into the ‘90s with a 1998 Emmy Award-winning NBC mini-series that chronicled the group’s early days and rise to fame. In 2012, the group performed on “Dancing with the Stars” as part of Motown Week.
Beyond their extraordinary singing and distinct harmonies, The Temptations became known for their smooth choreography and distinctive look. “The Temptation Walk” became the staple of American style, flair, flash and class. The lineup includes original member Otis Williams, joined by Bruce Williamson, Terry Weeks, Ron Tyson and Joe Herndon.

Known the world over for “The Cosby Show,” which ran from 1984 to 1992 on NBC, Cosby broke racial barriers and sent a powerful message to viewers – the family unit and raising children matters most. The No. 1 rated sitcom earned six Emmy Awards, three Golden Globes and 10 People’s Choice Awards. It helped set the stage for Cosby’s career as an author, as his book “Fatherhood” remained at No. 1 for more than half of its 54 weeks on The New York Times Best Seller List. Among Cosby’s other titles are “Time Flies,” “Love and Marriage” and most recently, “I Didn’t Ask to be Born: (But I’m Glad I Was).”
In December 2013 Cosby’s first comedy special in 30 years, “Bill Cosby: Far From Finished,” debuted on Comedy Central, and he was recently signed by NBC to star in a new sitcom that will debut in 2015.
A champion of youth, Cosby’s dedication to helping children realize their potential is evidenced through his Emmy Award-winning “Little Bill” animated series, which aired on Nickelodeon and CBS. His other television and film credits include “Obkb,” “Fat Albert and the Cosby Kids,” “The Cosby Mysteries,” “Man and Boy” and “Uptown Saturday Night.”
Few entertainers have achieved the legendary status of Cosby, who emerged from humble beginnings in a Philadelphia housing project. After returning from the Navy, Cosby went on to earn a degree at Temple University and later a master’s and doctorate in Education from the University of Massachusetts. His lifelong contributions to American culture were recognized with a Kennedy Center Honor in 1998, the Presidential Medal of Freedom in July 2002, and the Kennedy Center Mark Twain Prize for American Humor in 2009.
