Victor Drai’s Sunset Plaza Steakhouse Launches new Bar & Patio Menu
& Weeknight Bar/Lounge Experiences Featuring No Corkage Fees on Mondays,
Uncork’d Tuesdays and Oyster, Champagne & Caviar on Wednesdays & Thursdays
LOS ANGELES, CA (July 8, 2014) – With summer officially in high-gear, Rare by Drai’s, Victor Drai’s Sunset Plaza steakhouse is now open on Sunday nights and is launching a new bar/patio menu with a series of weeknight events: Rare Summer Exclusives – a season-long celebration of food, drink, bar and patio dining.

In addition, Rare will now feature weeknight experiences ranging from No Corkage on Mondays to Rare Uncork’d on Tuesdays to tantalizing Champagne, Oysters & Caviar on Wednesday & Thursday nights.
The bar and patio at Rare provide the ying to Rare’s main dining room’s yang – the bar, lounge and patio are not merely waiting spaces before dinner; they are designed to be the social gathering spot of the restaurant experience with the lounge featuring an expansive bar and 33 seats, while the patio presents is an intimate, relaxed space with a crisp, white hue, large open windows, shimmering candles and a design lighter and more casual than the dining rooms. To go with more relaxed setting, Florendo has designed a new menu that captures the spirit of summer and the two front-of-house spaces. Beginning on July 7, the new, Bite At Our Bar menu is available all night in the bar & lounge and exclusively in the patio from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

In addition to the new patio-inspired menu, Florendo’s new summer-inspired main dining room items are highlighted by a cool yellow tomato soup, a refreshing heirloom chilled watermelon and a fresh house-made peach cobbler. “We designed Rare to have two distinct personalities,” explains Victor Drai. “The dining room is beautiful, warm and sophisticated, and the bar, lounge and patio bring a more casual element: it’s the perfect setting for this menu and our new social experiences.”
For those looking to take advantage of the summer with early mid-week dining, Rare has created “Summer Exclusives” which range from personalized cocktails to a selection of fine wines featured at 50% off their menu prices to a classic pairing of oysters, champagne and caviar.

Sure, you’ve selected your seat from an airplane map by now.
But now you can choose which hotel room you want via a digital floor plan, courtesy of Hilton Worldwide.
In July, Hilton became the first hospitality company to offer room selection and customization via mobile and Internet-based floor plans. Part of a company-wide initiative to focus on the digital and technology space, the offering was conceived based on feedback from travelers.
“Number one, what we’re trying to do is give guests the ultimate in choice and control, really make sure it’s their vacation and that it’s custom to them,” said Dustin Bomar, Senior Director, Global Online Services at Hilton. “The second thing is, we were asking our consumers what they wanted to see, what they would use, what they would find valuable. And 84 percent of guests (in a global survey by Hilton) said if they had the option of choosing their room, they would do it. So, because the guests asked for it, that’s what we’ll provide.”
Guests can currently select their exact room online or via the Apple and Android HHonors apps across five Hilton U.S. brands: Waldorf Astoria Hotels & Resorts, Conrad Hotels & Resorts, Hilton Hotels & Resorts, Hilton Garden Inn, Homewood Suites and Home2 Suites. That covers nearly 1,000 Hilton hotels. The functionality will also be available at DoubleTree by Hilton and Embassy Suites Hotels properties within the U.S. this fall.
That’s in addition to digital check-in, digital checkout and the ability to order food, beverage and other items that will be waiting for you when you step into your hotel room.
By the end of 2014, digital check-in and room selection will be available at more than 4,000 Hilton Worldwide properties across 11 brands in 80-plus countries via members’ Hilton HHonors accounts.

“It’s great to be putting on another great card with Mayweather Promotions stars from top to bottom,” said Floyd Mayweather, president of Mayweather Promotions. “Even though we will be two weeks away from my rematch against Maidana, there is no way I would miss this. These guys all live by the motto of ‘Hard work, dedication,’ and I look forward to seeing that hard work pay off on Aug. 30.”
“The Aug. 30 fight kicks off two big weeks for Mayweather Promotions,” said Leonard Ellerbe, CEO of Mayweather Promotions. “With a full roster of our toughest fighters, fans at The Palm will be in for great fights from start to finish just 14 days before the biggest fight of the year.”
“We’re excited to work with Mayweather Promotions and Showtime for another exciting boxing event at The Pearl,” said Billy Conn, Vice President of Entertainment and Special Events for the Pearl at Palms Resort and Casino.
With his huge win against Marco Antonio Periban on “THE MOMENT: Mayweather vs. Maidana” pay-per-view undercard in May, J’Leon Love (18-0, 10 KOs) earned himself the vacant WBA International Super Middleweight Title and the respect of boxing fans who saw him get knocked down, but get back on his feet to defeat Periban. Now the Dearborn Heights, Mich., native looks to earn himself a world title fight with an impressive performance on Aug. 30.
His opponent, Rogelio Medina (32-6, 26 KOs) is a hard-hitter who has racked up the knockouts throughout his career. Still just 25-years-old, the Mexican fighter is looking to find himself in the world title picture with a signature victory against Love on August 30.
A member of the 2008 Gambian Olympic Team, Badou “The Ripper” Jack (16-1-1, 11 KOs) will look to rebound from the first loss of his career, a first-round knockout against Derek Edwards. A victory here will surely return the exciting super middleweight to contender status.
Jack takes on Jason Escalera (15-2-1, 12 KOs) of Union City, NJ burst onto the boxing scene in 2008 turning pro after only 25 fights. The super middleweight is coming off of a two-fight winning streak and is looking to hand “The Ripper” another loss.
Rounding out a four-fight telecast will be undefeated middleweight Chris Pearson (14-0, 10 KOs) and unbeaten super middleweight Ronald “Thrill” Gavril (9-0, 7 KOs) in separate bouts. The Romanian, Gavril, and the Dayton, Ohio, native, Pearson, are hoping to keep their unblemished records intact on their way to reaching their world championship aspirations.
Pearson takes on Steve Martinez (15-1, 12 KOs) a 24-year-old prospect from the Bronx, New York who enters this bout on a four-match winning streak that includes three victories by TKO. Gavril will take on Thomas Falowo (12-2, 8 KOs) of Pawtucket, Rhode Island who looks to make it three wins in a row on August 30.
