TWEET: The Brian Setzer Orchestra brings annual Christmas Rocks! Extravaganza to #VEGAS @pearlatpalms Dec. 20. Tix on sale 9/19 #happyholidays
LAS VEGAS – September 8, 2014 – The Brian Setzer Orchestra brings the 11th annual Christmas Rocks! Extravaganza to The Pearl Concert Theater inside Palms Casino Resort on Dec. 20, 2014 at 8 p.m. The tour features music from the group’s three best-selling holiday albums, as well as original material from Brian Setzer, and has become one of the most exciting annual rockin’ Christmas events on the planet. Tickets start at $43, plus any additional service fees.
“The Christmas Tour has become an annual tradition for many people, says Setzer. “It’s so enjoyable for me because not only do I get to play my own versions of holiday music, but also songs I recorded with my orchestra and the Stray Cats. I love breaking down the set in the middle and just play rockabilly music with a three-piece, which is where I started. I get to change up the set every year and it’s also my favorite time of year.”
Three-time GRAMMY Award-winner Setzer is a “musician’s musician,” credited with consistently taking chances with innovative and daring musical styles, while single-handedly resurrecting two forgotten genres of music – rockabilly in the ’80s and swing in the ’90s. Along the way he has scored chart-topping hits throughout his decorated career as founder and leader of the Stray Cats, his 18-piece Brian Setzer Orchestra, and as a solo artist.
If that wasn’t enough, Setzer found tremendous success in redefining Christmas music for a generation desperately desiring something new and exciting around the holidays: The result, three best-selling holiday albums Boogie Woogie Christmas, Dig That Crazy Christmas and Christmas Rocks!: The Best Of Collection.
Doors at the Pearl will open at 7 p.m., show time is 8 p.m. The Pearl Box Office is open daily from noon until 7 p.m. with extended hours on select event days. Follow The Pearl on Twitter at @PearlatPalms for concert announcements and event information.
About Brian Setzer:
Revitalizing 1950’s Rockabilly in the 1980s with the Stray Cats, along with resurrecting swing and jump blues music with The Brian Setzer Orchestra, multi-GRAMMY Award-winning Brian Setzer is consistently cited as one of the world’s greatest living guitarists, a musician’s musician and has a best-selling extensive line of elite Gretsch signature model guitars bearing his name. Outside of the studio, Setzer made a cameo in the 1987 film, “La Bamba” (the biographical film written following the life and career of Chicano rock ‘n’ roll star Ritchie Valens), portraying rockabilly pioneer Eddie Cochran. In 2002, Setzer earned the distinct honor of being one of the few musicians to be animated in an episode of “The Simpsons,” an episode which also featured rock ‘n’ roll legends Mick Jagger and Keith Richards. In the same year, Setzer was personally requested to induct Chet Atkins into the 17th Annual Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

“It’s been an exciting summer of qualifying so far,” said Multimedia Games CEO Patrick Ramsey. “The National Championship is just around the corner, and we have a terrific group of players who have earned their trip to the finals in Las Vegas.”
The National TournEvent of Champions takes slot tournaments to a whole new level. Two TournEvent of Champions buses are crisscrossing the country from April-September, through 22 states with more than 250,000 players competing for the chance to represent their casino in Las Vegas. Casinos are hosting slot leagues, semi-finals and then in-casino finals to find the top player to represent them at the National Championship.
Of the 78 qualifiers thus far, there are 44 women and 34 men. They range in age from 22-92 and cover a wide spectrum of backgrounds — from real estate agents to entrepreneurs, and military veterans to government workers. Many of the qualifiers are enjoying the golden years of retirement, and two even hail from the Great White North, Canada.
National TournEvent of Champions began in 2012 with regional competitions in California and Washington. The event crowned its first national champion in 2013 after 88 players from 77 casinos competed in the finals at Lagasse’s Stadium at The Palazzo in Las Vegas. The 2014 event is even bigger with 123 players from 103 casinos and a total purse of $500,000 — double the 2013 purse. The National TournEvent of Champions tour buses are sponsored by Strictly Slots, APSM Systems, Effinet, Bensussen Deutsch & Associates, e-gads!, Andover Audio, Quixant, Sequel Data Systems, Unistar-Sparco Computers, Sunkist Graphics and VSR Industries.

The brothers got their start as a barbershop group in 1958, performing around their hometown of Ogden, Utah, before moving to California and working at Disneyland. It was there that Andy Williams heard The Osmond Brothers and invited them to perform on his show. That single appearance led the young “one-take Osmonds” to seven seasons as regulars on “The Andy Williams Show.”
The Osmond Brothers dropped “Brothers” from their name and signed with MGM Records in 1971. Hits like “One Bad Apple,” “Yo-Yo,” “Down by the Lazy River” and “Love Me For a Reason” transformed the group into world-famous teen idols, thrilling millions with their close harmonies, clean-cut image and energetic pop rock sound.
Known for their versatility and for shaping musical styles to fit their talents, the Osmonds gained further exposure with the 1976 premiere of “The Donny and Marie Show.” With the Osmond brothers as executive producers, the show exposed the incredible talents of the family members, and in 1979, the show transformed into “The Osmond Family Show.”
The Osmonds transitioned their sound from pop to country music in the early 1980’s, producing the hits “I Think About Your Lovin’” and “It’s Like Fallin’ In Love (Over and Over Again).” Billboard magazine honored them with the “1982 Breakthrough Award” and acknowledged them as the “Number One New Singles Group of the Year.”
In 2003, the Osmond family was honored for their achievements in the entertainment industry with a star on the legendary Hollywood Walk of Fame. They celebrated fifty years in show business in 2007 with a European tour and a PBS special, taped at Suncoast sister property, The Orleans Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas.
