The Lake District has always been known to attract millions of visitors including TV and film stars but one holiday park in Bowness on Windermere has seen more than their fair share of a certain ‘dragon’ this year.

Scottish entrepreneur and star of TV’s Dragon’s Den, Duncan Bannatyne has become something of a permanent fixture to staff, holiday home owners and visitors on Fallbarrow Park in Bowness on Windermere.

Mr Bannatyne has firmly put his support behind holidaying at home and has visited the Lake District and Fallbarrow for long weekends and midweek breaks nearly a dozen times over the last few months. He even chose the tranquillity of Fallbarrow Park to help him recuperate after a short hospital stay earlier this Summer.

Whilst staying on the park, Mr Bannatyne regularly takes to social networking site, Twitter to share his scenic photos of morning mists over Lake Windermere, having fun on the lake with his children, and tips on where he recommends to eat and visit in the South Lakes to his half a million followers.

Recent tweets have included “Idyllic Windermere”, “Messing about on boats – great fun”, “Wakeboarding anyone?”, “Having another exciting day at Fallbarrow Park with my lovely kids – love it!” and “We are still at the most beautiful & relaxing part of the UK – The Lakes.”

South Lakeland Parks, who run the five-star Fallbarrow Park on the banks of Lake Windermere, have been delighted to welcome the TV personality and hope that he continues to visit the park in the future. Nigel Wimpenny, Managing Director at South Lakeland Parks, said: “He really seems to love it here and who can blame him? There’s no shortage of things to see and do, and the park offers direct access to the lake so watersports and boating activities are popular in all seasons.

“Through his social media presence, literally millions of people are seeing his photographs of the park and our breathtaking lakeside views, which is fantastic and we are just so pleased that Fallbarrow has turned into one of his favourite places in the UK to visit.”
Fallbarrow Park is situated just a two minute stroll from Bowness on Windermere, which has a wealth of bustling shops, attractions, galleries, restaurants, pubs and cafes.

The county’s tourism chiefs must also be relishing the extra interest in the area that inevitably comes when celebrities visit. Others big names that have reportedly enjoyed trips to the Lake District recently include US stars Joan Rivers, Neil Sedaka, and Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie. UK rapper Professor Green has also shared on Twitter that he wants to see the Lake District in snow.
