Wekiva Island. With the holiday season upon us, we wanted to share timely information on Wekiva Island’s wildly popular fourth annual Winter Wonderland, should you be working on a Christmas family travel piece/round-up, featuring Central Florida.
Throughout the month of December, the popular Longwood watering hole will transform into the epicenter of holiday cheer in the Sunshine State. The month-long celebration will feature an exciting roster of events including a snow slide, train rides, holiday movies on the lawn, breakfast with Santa, nightly snow flurries, and more!
Also returning in December is Wekiva Island’s Annual Boat Parade, one of Central Florida’s quirkiest holiday traditions. Boats decorated in Christmas lights illuminate the Wekiva River for hundreds of spectators in a uniquely Floridian procession, culminating with an appearance by a seafaring Santa Claus. The Boat Parade is slated for Saturday, December 22, at 7 p.m.
New traditions include Sleigh Rides on the River, where guests will have the opportunity to board a pontoon boat decorated as a sleigh and enjoy a scenic ride down the Wekiva River, led by one of Santa’s elves.
