Yucatan new theme park
Looking for a thrill during your next Mexican vacation?
A new theme park officially opened in December near Merida, Yucatan.
According to MexioNewsDaily.com, the new park is dubbed Baxal Ja and features water slides, a wave pool, games, a lazy river, surf tracks, farms and ecological-interactive areas. The complex can be found on the Yucatán Fair site in X’matkuil.
In total, the 30,000-square-meter Baxal Ja cost around $4 million to build. Mexican officials are hoping the park will provide locals and visitors with a destination that keeps them coming back year after year.
“This space provides children and young people with a place of family coexistence, which contributes to strengthening the social fabric and security because it offers alternatives to lead a healthy lifestyle,” Yucatan Governor Rolando Zapata Bello told the Yucatan Times.
Within the park’s ecological-interactive areas, Baxal Ja will feature a butterfly farm with a laboratory and an aviary where 300 birds of 56 different species can be found. The property also has a farm with animals like goats, pigs, ponies, mules, roosters, sheep, llamas and other creatures.
The facility will also feature a visitor’s access booth, doctor’s office, bathrooms, dressing rooms, food area, terraces, walkers and more. Admission prices start at $4 per person, and the park is open Tuesday to Sunday each week.
