Hilton Sandestin Beach Golf Resort & Spa – Sandestin – 2018. Upgrades are happening at the Hilton Sandestin Beach Golf Resort & Spa. The resort recently began a $5 million capital improvement project to enhance the guest experience at the property. This multi-phase project will enhance several aspects of the guest experience starting with the guest rooms and expanding out into the outdoor dining and amenity areas. Some improvements already made include the addition of extra lounge chairs and umbrellas to the three pool decks as well as new decking that is barefoot and eco-friendly. Guests will notice new tile and flooring, walk-in showers and the addition of sliding barn doors. Adding to the list of upgrades and changes at the resort, there will be menu updates at the seven dining options including Sandcastles Restaurant and Lounge which will now offer fresh seafood options such as oysters and ceviche.
Hyatt Place Hotel – Sandestin – 2018. Designed by Howard Hospitality and HVS Design, this hotel will bring a new 84 room select service hotel to South Walton. The new hotel will be walking distance to Grand Boulevard’s town Center, have free hot breakfast daily, coffee and cocktail bars, free Wi-Fi throughout the hotel and guestrooms, a 1,600 square foot meeting space and a 24 hour fitness center. The hotel is set to open late 2018.

Fish Out of Water – Santa Rosa Beach – 2018. WaterColor Inn announced a major renovation planned for their award-winning, upscale restaurant. The restaurant, which first opened in 2002, is getting a complete redesign to emphasize its sweeping views of the Gulf of Mexico, and take advantage of the restaurant’s close proximity to the beautiful white sand beaches that South Walton is known for. In addition to improved views for Fish Out of Water’s restaurant and bar patrons, the restaurant will feature updated décor. The redesigned Fish Out of Water will remain committed to offering diners an impeccable level of service, and a sensational, seasonal menu of Southern coastal dishes with global touches. The restaurant will be closed for the renovation and is scheduled to reopen in late spring 2018.
Candlewood Suites – West Miramar Beach – 2018. This hotel is joining an exciting lineup of hotel accommodations in Fort Walton Beach. The 3-story hotel will offer 98 rooms located just west of downtown on Highway 98.
Waterline Resort – Bradenton – 2018. Expected to open before the New Year, the luxury resort will offer 37 stylish 1,100-square- foot, two-bedroom suites with gourmet kitchens. The resort’s separate beach club will offer exclusive beach access with lounge chairs, umbrellas, beach toys and a ‘desalination zone’ for guests to cool down and relax. Universal’s Aventura Hotel – Orlando – August 2018. This new hotel will offer tech-savvy accommodation, including in-room tablets that control many of the rooms’ features like the TV, room temperature controls and more. Additional tech features throughout the hotel will include a virtual reality game room and dive-in movie experience with an underwater speaker system in the hotel’s resort-style pool.
Fenway Hotel (Q2) – St. Petersburg – 2018. The 1920’s-era building, a Dunedin icon, returns to its original role as a hotel. Developer Mainsail Lodging is transforming the Mediterranean-style, waterfront building into a member of the Marriott International Autograph Collection. The reincarnated Fenway, which will feature a strong historical influence, is on pace to open in Q2 2018.
Dr. BBQ – St. Petersburg – 2018. Bringing “new American barbeque” to the Tampa Bay area, the new full-service restaurant will sizzle with barbeque varieties and variations fashioned around Ray’s travels across the country and the many different styles of barbeque he tasted along the way, blended with local St. Pete tastes. The restaurant has a rustic industrial ambiance to complement the cuisine. It features a remarkable selection of bourbon curated by an award winning mixologist along with a creative cocktail program and local beers for patrons wanting spirits along with main event. Datz – St. Petersburg – 2018. A second location of Tampa’s ever-popular Datz will be opening in the forthcoming James Museum of Western and Wildlife Art. The restaurant is slated to open in early April 2018. In addition, the original Datz in Tampa will also be renovated in the new year to reflect the style of the new “Datz 2.”
Blue Harbour – Tampa – 2018. This forthcoming restaurant and bar will be opening inside the newly renovated Westin Tampa Waterside (725 South Harbour Island Blvd). The restaurant will balance a relaxed and refined atmosphere and will feature a menu inspired by the sea, with simple yet well done dishes like lobster rolls, oysters on the half shell and crab cakes. Cocktail culture will also play a large role within the beverage program, where old school service standards and superb cocktail craft will live within a thoughtfully designed enclave of warmth, ease and comfort. Osteria – Tampa – 2018. Celebrity chef Fabio Viviani, best known for his television debut on Bravo’s hit reality series “Top Chef,” and Nocturnal Group have teamed up to open Osteria, a rustic, refined Italian kitchen and bar. More details to be announced.
Due South Brewing Company – Boynton Beach – 2018. This brewing company is expanding its taproom, which will nearly double in size for a total of 27,000 square feet. The added space will allow for 4,800 square feet of air-conditioned tap room space, and be able to provide more than 40 taps of on-site brewed craft beer. The completion of the expansion is scheduled for January 2018.
Bungalows Key Largo – Key Largo – 2018. The adults-only, all-inclusive, 13-acre 135-unit luxury property for corporate retreats, meetings, weddings and leisure travelers is targeting an early 2018 opening. The Keys’ first all-inclusive resort is located at 99010 Overseas Highway, or mile marker 99 bayside. Most rooms are to average about 800 square feet and include private outdoor plunge pools or tubs. The resort is to offer two in-ground pools, five indoor and outdoor restaurants, four bars, 1,000 feet of shoreline, three piers to accommodate boats up to 40 feet long and a “Florida Keys chic” design. 1000 NORTH Restaurant & Club – Jupiter – 2018. This highly-anticipated restaurant and private club will open in January. The development is the collaboration of some of the biggest names in sports, top wine experts, and the region’s leading developers. Investors include Michael Jordan, Ernie Els, and Rickie Fowler, just to name a few. 1000 NORTH will offer modern, American regional cuisine with impeccable service. The first floor of the 340-seat restaurant will have an indoor and outdoor bar, and will be open to the public, while the 1,500 square-foot second floor will be dedicated to members and their guests only. The second floor will have a 450-square-foot outdoor patio for food and beverages. Membership for the upper level club will cost $2500 a year, and there will be a limit of approximately 250 members.
Hilton Marco Island Beach Resort & Spa – Marco Island – 2018. Opening in March 2018 on the beach at Marco Island are the fully renovated and re-imagined guestrooms. A full renovation project was underway prior to Hurricane Irma. Guests currently have access to the newly renovated meeting and event space and The Deck at 560 Restaurant & Bar, which is open daily for lunch and dinner with an all-day Happy Hour.
Holiday Inn Express – Punta Gorda – 2018. Punta Gorda is getting a Holiday Inn Express located off Exit 161 facing I-75 at the Jones Loop Road interchange. The hotel is anticipated to open in early 2018.
Peace River Beer Company – Punta Gorda – 2018. Charlotte County’s second brewery opened late December 2017, just in time for the new year. Located slightly south of downtown Punta Gorda, Peace River Beer Company has a spacious tap room with additional plans to build an outdoor beer garden in 2018. Their cozy, outdoor vibe is highlighted by canoes hanging from the ceiling, light fixtures made from watering cans, picnic tables for seating and tap handles made from figurines and old tools. Launched by the same owners behind Bury Me Brewing in Fort Myers, Peace River Beer Company is planning on serving up a delicious lineup of brews in 2018. Stop by for a locally brewed IPA, pale ale, Irish red, porter, American wheat or strong ale.
SpringHill Suites by Marriott – Punta Gorda – 2018. The City of Punta Gorda is working with a developer to build a proposed 5-story, 103-room SpringHill Suites by Marriott hotel on the City marketplaces property at the corner of West Retta Esplanade and Harborside Boulevard. The hotel is planned for opening in mid-2018 in downtown Punta Gorda across the street from the Charlotte Harbor Event and Conference Center and within walking distance to shops and restaurants.
