InterContinental Hotels Group has signed a deal to expand the Kimpton Hotels brand in East Asia.
Next stop for Kimpton is Taipei in collaboration with Malaysia’s Cornerstone Partners Group.
The centrally located Kimpton Taipei will feature 129 rooms and suites and will likely open during the third quarter of 2018.
IHG recently announced the Kimpton brand entry into Asia with hotels slated for Shanghai, Sanya and Bali.
“We’re excited to grow our presence in Asia and look forward to introducing our uniquely personalised approach to the Taipei market. We’re certain this property will become a beloved destination for travellers and locals alike,” said Mike DeFrino, CEO of Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants.
IHG currently operates five hotels in Taiwan under its Crowne Plaza, Hotel Indigo, Holiday Inn and Holiday Inn Express brands, and has a further five in the pipeline.
“This cooperation between Cornerstone Partners Group and IHG to introduce Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants will put Taiwan in the spotlight again. We are very confident in the market and look forward to expanding our footprint in the region,” said Jason Chong, CEO of Cornerstone Partners Group.
