The Bethesda, Maryland-based hotel giant celebrated the New Year along with the opening of the Delta Hotels by Marriott Shanghai Baoshan in China. The 339-room property is located near downtown Shanghai and the busy Wusongkou International Cruise Terminal.
The new hotel represents the stepping stone for what Marriott anticipates will be a tremendous year of growth.
The premium brand aims to have 66 properties around the world by the end of 2018. Marriott said Delta is among its fastest-growing brands, opening a new hotel every other week.
“We are very excited to introduce the first Delta Hotels by Marriott to the Asia Pacific region,” said Marriott’s Vice President of Brand & Marketing for Asia-Pacific, Mike Fulkerson in a statement.
“Delta Hotels is a premium brand with a clear brand ethos of ‘Simple Made Perfect.’ The Delta Hotels by Marriott Shanghai Baoshan delivers on this promise by providing a full complement of streamlined services in a simple, straightforward way.”
“The hotel delivers key essentials in a manner that makes travel seamless and always enjoyable for our guests.”
Rooms and suites inside the property boast 55-inch flatscreen LCD TVs, air purifiers, capsule coffee machines and premium bath amenities while dining options include the American style Lotus All Day Dining Restaurant, grilled steaks at The Kitchen and fine dining at the hotel’s authentic Chinese restaurant, TRU.
There’s also a lobby lounge serving up baked pastries and drinks and the DWB bar for guests seeking signature cocktails.
The Fairfield by Marriott brand also debuted in Shanghai this week with the opening of the 195-room Fairfield by Marriott Shanghai Jing’an.
The fast-expanding brand has so far exceeded 900 hotels worldwide.
