Caribbean luxury villa operator WIMCO Villas is offering travelers a rare opportunity to visit Saint Barth through its sponsorship of the Les Voiles de Saint Barth Regatta scheduled for Gustavia harbor on April 8 to 14.
WIMCO will be the exclusive villa rental partner of the race and provide accommodations and concierge services to sailing fans as well as sailors, sponsors, suppliers and media members.
The partnership will allow travelers to visit Saint Barth as the territory continues to recover from significant damage cause by the fall hurricanes. WIMO officials estimate 90 percent of the island’s hotel rooms remain under repair.
The regatta will feature 60 yachts competing in eight race categories from maxis to multi-hull speeders. Organizers will erect a race village on the quay in Gustavia harbor and offer live concerts after each day’s races. Musician Jimmy Buffett will serve as the event’s official ambassador.
WIMCO’s villa rentals feature private pools, daily housekeeping and concierge service; the company’s 370 villas span from one- or two-bedroom private villas to sprawling eight-bedroom estates. WIMCO also provides travelers with “end to end” services including arranging all flights, car service to the airport, shipment of luggage in advance, VIP meet and greet service at the airport and private car transportation to the villa. The company pays a standard commission to travel agents for villa rentals.
In the aftermath of the hurricanes, Stiles Bennet, WIMCO’s president, and Buffett helped coordinate disaster relief funds and purchase essential supplies in the U.S. for delivery them to Saint Barths. Their support of the Les Voiles regatta will celebrate the recovery of “this very special piece of France in the Caribbean,” Bennet said.
“We have a 30 year history with the island and its people, and one storm doesn’t change that, instead it strengthens our commitment to Saint Barths” he added.
