Ride sharing service Lyft has inked a partnership with rail operator Amtrak to whisk riders on those last few miles ‘from station to destination.’
Rail customers can now request a ride from Lyft directly within the Amtrak app and Lyft’s nationwide network coverage can meet the needs of approximately 97% of Amtrak riders.
“We’re looking forward to working with Amtrak. As a fixture of American travel, Amtrak makes it simple and convenient for passengers, something Lyft feels passionately about as well,” said David Baga, CBO for Lyft,
“Both companies have a long-standing commitment to supporting communities we serve and we’re excited to grow together.”
To kick off the partnership, new users to Lyft can redeem the code ‘AMTRAKLYFT’ to get a $5 discount on their first four rides.
It ‘creates a seamless solution with no need for parking, cash, or rides from unreliable relatives’ Lyft says in a website blog post.
Lyft recently agreed a partnership with Disney Parks for on-demand rides in quaint ‘Minnie Vans’ to transport guests around Disney’s sprawling World Resort in Orlando.
